book cover of Civil Rights Warrior by Evelyn Jones RichJoanna Underwood ’62, Marcia Cantarella ’68, and the Bryn Mawr Club of New York City invite you to a festive book party for Evie Jones Rich ’54 on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 6 PM.

Come and celebrate the publication of Civil Rights Warrior, a recounting of events that changed our nation for the better by someone who was there at the beginning and who is still fighting for equality and justice. Timelier than ever, this is a story that had to be told by a woman whose courage, hard work, and persistence has affected the lives of all of us in ways we may not have considered. Come for inspiration and history — and the great collegiality of Bryn Mawr alums.

The book party will be hosted at the town house home of Joanna Underwood, herself an influential environmental activist and founder of Energy Vision. Joanna’s town house was built in 1846 and is one of the oldest in New York City. Co-host Marcia Cantarella’s illustrious career in education and civil rights continues the legacy of her father the great Whitney M. Young, Jr. a pathbreaker and advisor to three presidents.

Space is limited. Register below through Eventbrite – or if you have trouble with Eventbrite contact the Bryn Mawr Club of NYC’s President Alisha Park ’13 at acpark9@gmail.com.
